Current Pepco Power Outages

Across Prince George’s County, Maryland, thousands of customers are facing power outages due to a fire that broke out in a Pepco substation on Tuesday. As of Wednesday morning, approximately 2,000 homes and businesses were still without electricity.

The fire began in the afternoon and firefighters were called to the substation, which had to be deenergized as a safety precaution. Areas affected include Upper Marlboro, Rosaryville, Marlton, Croom, Queensland, Marlboro Village, Meadows, Westphalia, Largo and Kettering.

Pepco is currently working to determine opportunities to safely reroute electricity to restore service for impacted customers, although a timeline for service restoration has not been made public. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
